The Passion that Drives our Dreams
When a new dream begins to form, I begin thinking of all the steps it will take to make that dream a reality. Then, I start to process all the short- and long-term consequences, positive and potentially negative. For me, this process isn’t intimidating or overwhelming, instead it is exciting.
Ideas like these are close to my heart and I will fight for them, just as I would for anything close to me. These types of dreams do not become reality easily; that is where passion comes in. Passion is a key component of a successful entrepreneur. You may have all the drive in the world, but if you do not feel passionate about a project, your success is intrinsically limited. Lyn St. James, rookie of the year and the first woman to win the Indianapolis 500 said it best, “Whenever I get to a low point, I go back to the basics. I ask myself, ‘Why am I doing this?’ It comes down to passion.” It is a fortunate experience when your passion can align with your work. In my case, I am passionate about serving others and changing the community for the better.
My father and grandfather did this through pastoring, mission work and continually looking for ways to help others. I have found other ways to do it. Part of fulfilling my passion has to do with giving of my time and resources to important organizations such as Miss America, digging water wells in the Central African Republic through ICDI and supporting an organization that provides resources to families with children with disabilities, orphanages, and others. My passion is further fulfilled through my work at Solavei and our vision to positively impact millions of people’s lives through a new industry we call Social Commerce.
Finding your passion or finding out how to use your passion can be a challenging exercise, but Kaihan Krippendorff has created a walk-through thought process to help you feel that same excitement as your dreams begin to form. Even if you feel you have already figured out your passion, this could be a great way to revamp or re-inspire your dreams.
No matter what you do or whom you live life with… live it with passion!
Indeed! Amen!
