Recommitting to Your Resolutions
Remember about two months ago when you started to think about what you wanted to change or improve? Remember how in January you did really well and it felt great? Remember that first time this month when you allowed yourself to slip and all the times you’ve slipped since then?
According to a new study done by Splenda, the average diet only lasts a little over five weeks before temptation overcomes the resolution. Other research shows that 60% of gym memberships go unused and gym attendance goes back to the normal level by mid-February. It seems reasonable that this would be true for many resolutions. This is why it is time to recommit to your resolutions rather than accept you won’t be making a change this year.
Here are 5 steps to recommit to your resolutions:
- Remind yourself why you wanted to do them in the first place.
- Determine what caused you to veer off course.
- Create a plan to accomplish your resolution and avoid pitfalls. Write it down.
- Review your status each week, if not each day.
- Reward yourself for your accomplishments.
What resolutions do you need to recommit to in March? Tell me in the comments!
