8 Tactics to Accomplish Your Goals in 2013
With each New Year we set new goals and resolutions. The best goals are the ones that create a burning passion within you. These are the goals that you will dedicate long hours of hard work to. These goals will make your year unforgettable and meaningful. But, these can also be the most difficult goals to accomplish. Below are some tactics to help you accomplish your most impassioned goals.
Say “Yes” to Your Dream. You have an idea. You have a goal. So allow yourself to go for it. There will never be an “ideal” time to take a risk. There will always be reasons to wait. Do not allow yourself to put off your goals.
Set Long-Term Goals. There are strategies to goal setting that will increase the effectiveness of the goals as well as your ability to measure your success. One major key is to write down your goals somewhere they will be in front of you on a regular basis. Write a list and post it at your desk or keep a version in your phone. Once they are written down they develop a sense of realness.
Set Short-Term Goals. These are the daily goals that you need to complete in order to reach your long-term goals. Each morning, write down top three main tasks that you must accomplish that day. Then, don’t go to sleep until you finish those three tasks. This will push you closer to your dream and will give you a sense of pride in your daily accomplishments.
Work Hard. This one sounds obvious, but this isn’t your typical “work hard” mentality. This is a serious, “work harder than you’ve ever worked in your life” work hard. This is your passion; you owe it to yourself to do everything you can to succeed. You owe it to the people your goal will benefit to succeed.
Reward Yourself. Do not forget this tactic. It is easy to skip breaks or to minimalize your accomplishments. Go ahead: pat yourself on the back. It is tempting to forge ahead to the next big task after you have just finished one. Small successes along the way need to be recognized. These will keep your morale high and your passion strong. You’re doing something amazing and you should reward yourself.
Learn from Set Backs. Even if you have mapped out your goals down to the week and you have done everything in your power to reach these goals, you may experience a set back. Some of this is out of your control. Some of this will be due to a mistake. Don’t let it derail you. Learn from set backs and use them to strengthen your vision. Do not allow disappointment to take control.
Share Your Dream. Passion is more powerful when shared with others. Talk to your friends and connections about your goal. Find those people who share your passion and see how your individual strengths can come together to expand and build on your dream. Even if these people cannot be part of your team, they can be your supporters or listeners. These people can be there for you while you work through a set back even brainstorming a new idea. They can provide a fresh perspective that will open up a set of possibilities you may not have considered.
Finally, Stick with It. This is one of the hardest pieces. Making your goal a reality requires extreme dedication. It requires that you do not allow yourself to miss your deadlines. Do not allow yourself to settle for something less than what you need. Demand the best of yourself. Focus on the small details and keep the big picture in mind. Envision yourself succeeding. Most of all, don’t give up.
I keep these tactics in mind as I work on the growing vision of Solavei. We are still young for a company, but we have grown significantly since the vision was first crafted about a year ago. This growth and success has come from the combined effort of our employees and members. They continue to show inspiring dedication, passion and dedication to the Solavei vision. My goal for Solavei in 2013 is not only to reach 1,000,000 members, but also to focus on the member stories and showcase how Solavei is positively impacting lives along the way.
You know about one of my goals; I would love to hear about yours.
Please tweet your goals to me at @rwuerch.
It is my wish to allow abundant blessings and joy into my life.
My goal is to create, and build that which will allow me to live my dreams.

Ryan, what a great way to start 2013. We all have passions and dreams as we start each year, yet somewhere down the road we tend to veer off as life happens and we are thrust into making decisions on issues that we never anticipated. That is the most difficult part of life isn’t it the unknown, the what if”s. I really appreciate your 8 tactics, this will help to keep pace through 2013; a roadmap if you will that while it may not have all the answers will keep us focused when the what if’s come into play.
Have a Happy New Year…Go Solavei
