Leaders come in all varieties and are not limited by their title or position – instead, leaders are characterized by a set of traits they possess and represent on a daily basis. How many of the following do you do every day? Where can you improve?

Wake up early.

Eat a nutritional breakfast.

Greet their team with positive enthusiasm.

Prioritize their responsibilities for the day.

Make tough decisions with a combination of instinct, experience and data.

Show sincere appreciation for their team and the hard work they contribute.

Delegate responsibilities with faith the job will be done well.

Focus on the short- and long-term goals when making decisions.

Check in with their team to see how they are doing individually and as a group.

Take breaks to refocus and relieve stress.

Make exercising a priority.

Spend quality time with those closest to you.

Read books that further the learning process.

Plan priorities for the next day.

Face challenges with confidence and determination to succeed.

Inspire their team by living the vision and staying positive.

Acting as a leader means you are there both for the success of the company, and the success of the people you work with. It also means working hard to find solutions to challenges and staying up late to solve problems. This takes a lot of energy so it is vitally important to take care of your physical self as well through healthy eating, rest, time for relaxation and exercise.

What traits do you see in leaders around you on a daily basis?

In just a few days it will be Groundhog Day. We all know that predicting the next six weeks of weather is wishful thinking. After all even Punxsutawney Phil, one of the most famous groundhogs, has only been right 39% of the time. This particular groundhog is featured in the movie, Groundhog Day, where Bill Murray is forced to relive the same day until he realizes that he must change his attitude towards others in order to reach tomorrow. It was just a movie, but the general lesson holds true for all of us: if we continue use the same strategies we cannot logically expect different results.

Consider your business for a moment. If you were not reaching sales or profit goals for two years in a row, would you continue using the same strategies you had been using those two years? Of course not. As a smart businessperson, you would analyze what was working and what was not. Then you examine ways to change unsuccessful strategies to create a more successful outcome.

In some cases, it can be unclear what is causing the lack of success. Find two solutions you think will be effective and test each on a portion of your customer or potential customer base. Then, determine which was more effective.

Do not be discouraged if you cannot quickly find the solution to an issue. There may be more than one variable affecting your results and it can take time to find the answer. If you are struggling with this, ask around. Find other people who have had the same issue and learn what they did to resolve it.

Remember, this is not a one-time procedure. Strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of your business. Here are the steps broken down:

6 Steps to Get Better Results:

Determine what strategies you have been using.

Determine which are not producing the desired results.

Determine variables that may need adjusting.

Test two options and determine what option is more successful.

Research other options if you do not like the results.

Implement new strategies across your business and measure success with new strategy.

Repeat the process.

A common rule I have always lived by is, for every “no” you receive, it means that you are that much closer to a “yes!”

NOTE: This is dependent on strong and accurate analytics. If you do not have a quantifiable objective and a way to measure your progress, there is no way to determine your results.

Please tell me in the comments what alterations in your strategies have led to greater success? I’d love to hear!

Have you ever asked yourself what success means to you? What is your definition? It is commonly accepted that a successful career alone does not necessarily equate to happiness. We know that money cannot buy everything. So, what is your end goal? Have you ever stepped back a moment and considered what you are truly working towards?

For some, the end goal is a close family with children who have been provided for and supported. For others, the end goal is making an impact that significantly improves others’ lives. And for some, it is accomplishing something that felt impossible. Every one of us has a specific and personal vision of what success will look like when we reach that end goal.

Our members at Solavei have a vision of success. Some of the Solavei members wish to share with enough people to be able to quit their second job to spend more time with their family. Some of them are looking to reduce their mobile service bill so they can afford more important items. Some are satisfied with the knowledge that they are sharing something beneficial with someone else. Some see themselves becoming members of the 1K Club and earning a $1,000 or more each month by sharing Solavei Mobile Service so they can realize some of their financial dreams, an accomplishment signifying dedication and hard work. Each member has a different vision of success personalized for his or her life.

I encourage each and every member of Solavei to consider for a moment what you are truly striving for, within Solavei and within your life. Determine how you measure your personal success and the steps to reach it will become clear to you. What is the “why” behind your work?

How do you measure success? Tweet your answer to me at @rwuerch.
