More Than a Pageant.
Like most people, I grew watching and admiring the Miss America contest. I have since learned that there’s a whole lot more to Miss America than a television show and beauty pageant.
The Miss America organization is the largest scholarship program in the world for young women. It provides more than $45 million in college scholarships each year.
My knowledge of Miss America is first-hand. My wife, Shawntel, is Miss America 1996. Through her, I began volunteering for the Miss America Organization in 2003.
I am a board member and I’m committed to growing the scholarship program so that more young women can achieve their dreams.
About Miss America’s Scholarships:
The Miss America Organization is one of the nation’s leading achievement programs and the world’s largest provider of scholarship assistance for young women. Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance. This assistance is not just for the handful of young women who become Miss America, but is available to the over 12,000 young women who compete in the state and local competitions as well.
I am proud to be a part of this amazing organization.
